Chief Edgar R. Weidner, Jr., 71, of Columbus, went to be with our Lord on January 8, 2006. Retired from the US Navy after 24 years of service and retired from Nationwide Insurance after 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Sr. and Agnes Weidner and brothers George and Paul Weidner. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marilyn L. Weidner; sons, Richard, Paul and Nathan Weidner; daughters, Laura Gardner and Ardith Parsley; sister Loewarine "Lee" Walters; brothers-in-law, Richard and Robin "Butch" Thompson; sister-in-law Carol Wheeler; 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was a member of the Columbus First Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Westland Area Kiwanis. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00PM Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the funeral home. Rev. Alan Barnes will be officiating with interment at Green Lawn Cemetery.
