Edsel "Pete" Baker went to Heaven on January 28, 2013 to be with his beloved wife Boots. Pete was born January 14, 1939.
After graduating high school, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he was employed with Capital City Excavating and retired from George J. Igel Co. He was a life long member of Operating Engineers Local 18.
Pete was a man everyone respected. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed his job as an operator of heavy equipment. However, what was most important to Pete was his family. He was a loving and kind man we all looked up to. He was someone that you could always depend on. He will be missed more than words can express.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Lou Baker, brothers, Luther "Bevo" and Woodrow Baker. He is survived by sons Arthur "Duke" (Mindy) Huffman, Gary Lee (Mindy) Henson; daughters, Virginia "Doodle" Huffman and Catherine (Shane) McCain; grandchildren Chelsea Lynn and Aaron Arthur Huffman, Ciara Raine McCain; sisters, Virginia, Zeda, Marie, Ruth, Hilda, Anna, Lilly, Lottie (special brother-in-law, Joe), Nannette, and brother Sam. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Leon, West Virginia.
