Edward L. Mershon, 87, of Summerfield, Florida found peace on June 5, 2022. He was born in Rushtown, Ohio on July 19, 1934 to the late Arthur Jennings Mershon and Florence Ruth (Schackert) Mershon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, devoted wife of 51 years, Eleanor Mae (Soucie) Mershon; brother, William (Bill) Mershon; sister-in-law, Nancy Mershon; and daughters-in-law, Cheryl (Schmidt) Mershon and Denise (Woodruff) Mershon. Surviving family includes his sons Dale, Jeff and Robert and daughter Karen (Stanley) Monaco; grandchildren, Nicholas (Adriana Carrion) Monaco of Bradenton, FL; Elizabeth (Douglas) Brooks of Mount Lebanon, PA; Gregory (Miranda Shield) Monaco of Westerville, OH; Jessica (Joshua) Haskins of Eagle River, AK; Siona (Yaune) Smith and Kyla (John) Williams of Rugby, England and JP Mershon (Kirsten Brillhart) of Coshocton, OH and 8 great grandchildren.
Ed served his country with the United States Air Force for 20 years. He served in South Korea during the Korean Conflict, England, Greenland, Spain and stateside duties in Florida, Maine, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and South Dakota. After his retirement from the Air Force he worked for OSHA and DCSC until his ultimate dream retirement to Florida to play golf, travel the world and be a member of numerous clubs and organizations with Del Web Spruce Creek Country Club.
He was also a member of The VFW and The American Legion in Lady Lake, Florida. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23 from 11am-1pm with Funeral Services immediately following, at Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. Burial will follow in procession to Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
