Edward "Ed" Spriggs, 68, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Whetstone Care Center.
He was born December 29, 1943 in Jackson, son of the late Doug Spriggs and Ruth Harless Brown.
In addition to his mother, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Doris; brothers, Donnie and Alan.
He was a Jackson High School Iron Man, 3 time All American and Mr. Who's Who in basketball.
Ed drove for 35 years for Consolidated Freightway.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Neutzling Spriggs; sons, Frank Sgandurra and Michael Sgandurra; daughter, Toni (David) Tyndall; sister, Carol (Paul) Coyan; grandchildren, Corey, Michael and Alyssa Sgandurra, Harper, Ethan and Anthony Tyndall; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Emily Spriggs; special nieces and nephews, Liz , John and Austin Frisbee and Debbie and Jerry Hackett; special friends, Rhonda (Roy) Charles, Jaimie (Todd) Whitney and other extended host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, 135 Broadway Jackson, OH and also on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
Funeral service will be Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel.
Interment will be in Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice c/o Mt. Carmel Foundation, 6150 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43213 or the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 4340 Tamarack Blvd. Columbus, OH 43229.
