STEARNS
Edward Vincent Stearns, 84, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born on August 23, 1925, in Glassport, Pa. to the late Mary Kathleen (Myers) and Joseph Warren Stearns of McKeesport, Pa. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Doris Jean (Lind) Stearns; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Jo (Thomas) Shields, Amy Marie (David) Lewis; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Edward (Pamela) Stearns and Phillip Joseph (Lisa) Stearns; grandchildren, Adam, Lauren and Alexander Shields; Niki and Jani Stearns; Lyndsay and Kory Stearns; Ian, Marisa, Isaac and Gabriel Lewis; sisters, Elizabeth Bailie and Lois (Jim) Greene; nieces, nephews and many friends. Ed graduated with honors from McKeesport High School in 1943, attended Art Institute of Pittsburgh and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was a Veteran of WWII, 1943-1946 US Army Airborne Engineers, Signal Corps, Army Air Corps in the South Pacific; US Air Force, 1950-1953, Korean Conflict, Japan. Ed loved to write music, poetry and stories. He was past director of Adult choir and male chorus at Indianola Church of Christ. He retired from North American/Rockwell and worked for Terry Pianos and Organs, Williams Music and The Piano Gallery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville, OH.
