Edwin C. Cheatwood

December 29, 1940 — May 30, 2013

Edwin Clarr Cheatwood passed on to the Lord peacefully at home in the afternoon of May 30, 2013. "Big Ed" – as many knew him by – graduated from Central High School, attended Ohio State University for one year and later resumed studies at Columbus State Community College for two years. Former proprietor of Kelly's Pub in his endeared Franklinton community, Clarr retired from South Western City Schools.

In 2008, he was baptized, confirmed, and had his first Holy Communion with the Lord as a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Orlando, FL. As a committed Alumnus of Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus, he was inducted into the Alumni Wall of Fame.

Clarr spent the last 10 winters in Florida. Over the last few years he took particularly great joy in winning most Wednesdays at his weekly all-male Poker games.

He had a unique gift for loving everyone he knew for themselves, individually and unconditionally. He was an extraordinarily forgiving person. He was all about People.

He is preceded in death by his first child, Dorothy Kauser; his parents, Thebert "Rube" Cheatwood and Ellen Cheatwood; his brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Michelle Cheatwood, mother-in-law mary Weisenstein and his brother-in-law Larry Weisenstein.

He is survived by his most beloved wife and life partner, Karen Lynn Cheatwood, his loving sister Dr. Lydean Fellure, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Marjean Evans, and six of his seven children: Edwin C. Cheatwood II; Jo Ellen Allen; Fuller "Woody" Cheatwood; Jodi and Dan Stewart; Judd and Diamara Cheatwood; and Jessica and Ismael Alvarez; and his grandchildren: Amanda Tracy, Daniel Stewart, Whitney Stewart, Brittany Robinson, Skyler Cheatwood, Dylan Cheatwood, Hunter Stewart, Austin McFarland, Holden Stewart, Jandin Cheatwood, Taylor Cheatwood, Bryson Cheatwood, Brie Alvarez, and Naomi Alvarez; sole great grandchild, Lee Tracy Jr. and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Dr. Patel and the tireless and compassionate nurses of the Mt. Carmel Dialysis Center.

Finally, Clarr could never have imagined how much he is loved and will be missed. We commend his life and soul to God Our Father, in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
