Elsie A. Hockenberry

Elsie A. Hockenberry, 77, passed away peacefully, with her husband by her side to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on October 21, 2023. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on November 16, 1945.

Elsie taught at Worthington Christian Schools for 26 years as a middle school Spanish teacher. She was a longtime member of Grace Polaris Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading her Bible, and watching Hallmark movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dionisio and Marcelina Hernandez, brother, Dennis Hernandez.

Surviving family includes loving husband of 51 years, Jim, children, Jim E. Hockenberry III, Jamele (Matthew) Wenger, grandchildren, Brooke (Tyler) Hood, Joshua Wenger, Madyson Ratliff, Meghan Wenger, Caleb Wenger, Marissa Wenger, Stella Hockenberry, great-grandchildren, Lennyn and Poppy Hood, brother, Jorge (Haydee) Hernandez and sister-in-law, Marta Hernandez, Syndi (Jason) Merriman, Jenny Hockenberry, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm, Friday, October 27, 2023 at Grace Polaris Church, 8225 Worthington-Galena Road, Westerville, OH 43081, where a funeral service will begin at 1pm.

Burial to follow at Flint Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
