He is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Hahn and sister, Barbara Hahn.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hahn; daughter, Meggan (Kristopher) Weese; granddaughters, Addison Weese, Harper Weese, Hayden Weese; sisters, Marsha (Mark) Schwertfeger, Ruth (Ron) Phelps and a host of family and friends.
"Bernie", as he was affectionately known, grew up in Wellsburg, West Virginia. His love of people and relationships led him to his career as a high school guidance counselor at Gahanna Lincoln High School for over 25 years. He enjoyed sports, especially college sports. An interest in cars, specifically Corvettes and the Shelby Cobra were his hobby, along with working in his yard, was a source of enjoyment.
A faithful Christian, with a servant's heart, he was a member of Heritage Christian Church. He served on the Welcome Committee and especially enjoyed calling new visitors each week. The love of his three granddaughters brought Bernie great joy. He looked forward to their phone calls and their cheerful 'Where's Papa?' greeting.
Cindy was the love of Bernie's life. Their relationship was one of love, laughter, and sweet friendship. They were married 28 years.
To all who knew and loved him, he will be deeply missed. His warm smile, and helpful ways and 'I can do that' attitude brought blessing wherever he went.
A Celebration of Life service will be planned at a later date.
Donations may be made in Bernie's honor to The Cat Welfare Association, 741 Wetmore Rd, Columbus, OH 43214.
