Lyons
Elza Lyons, 82, of Westerville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 6, 2007. He was born January 19, 1925, in Paintsville, KY, son of the late James and Anna Margaret Fyffe Lyons. In addition to his parents, Elza is preceded in death by four brothers. He was a decorated Army veteran of WWII, receiving three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Ribbon, Unit Citation, Combat Inf. Badge. Elza fought for our country on D-Day in Normandy and was in the first wave to hit Omaha Beach. He was also in other areas of France and Rhineland. Elza was a pastor for 30 years at Gahanna Baptist Church and was also a member of Hayden Baptist Church. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Reda Williams Lyons; son, Dan (Beth) Lyons; daughters, Linda (Clayton) Bradshaw and Regina (Bill) Blythe; grandchildren, Christopher Lyons, Deanne (Greg) McClain, Jason (Brandy) Blythe, Nathan Bradshaw and Melissa Bradshaw; great grandchildren, Kaytlin Blythe, Bethany McClain, Luke McClain and Chloe Bradshaw; brother, James Lyons; sister, Ruby (Ralph) Manley. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home N.E. Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Webb and Rev. Greg McClain, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
