Ruth Culberson, age 95, of Powell, Ohio formerly of Newark, Ohio, passed away on November 10, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life. Surrounded by loved ones she peacefully joined hands with our Savior, Jesus Christ, as she transitioned to the gates of heaven. Born on July 30, 1929 to James and Ella Denny in Mason County, West Virginia, she came to Columbus at the age of 16.
At the age of 18, she met the love of her life, Carroll Jack Culberson. Ruth was known for her strong will and unwavering determination and love for her family.
Ruth retired from Lucent Technologies in 1985 after 25 years of service in a job she loved. She was an avid bowler who traveled to several out of state tournaments and continued to bowl until the age of 86. She also loved to play cards at the senior center in Newark and with family at the many holiday gatherings.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Bob) Warren, Diane (Dana) Wisecarver, Darlene (Paul Cameron) Morris and son-in-law, Jack Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband Carroll "Jack" Culberson, daughter Theresa Elaine Smith, son Jack Carl Culberson and grandsons Jason Wood and Clay Bristow. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves behind many other family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:30am- 10:30am with services following at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, Ohio on November 15, at 10:30am. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery at 12:00pm. We wish to share our memories and friendship with lunch served at 1:30pm at her daughter's house at 2696 Bryton Drive, Powell following the graveside services.
