Emma Jo Dolan, 98, of Columbus passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2023 at her residence. She was born March 14, 1925 in Plain City to the late Ted M. Baldwin and Beulah C. (Kilbury) Lombard. On January 28, 1950 she married James F. Dolan, Jr, who died October 16 2003.
She is survived by her daughters: Mary Jo White of Columbus, OH and Kathleen (Steven) Miracle of McCaysville, GA: three grandchildren: Michelle L. Weber-Nelson, Stephanie (Sean) Luke, Michael (Maddie Girton) Miracle; and six great-grandchildren: Christine Weber, Annette Weber, Michelle Weber, Seanna Luke, Patrick Luke, and Madeline Luke. She is also survived by her brother, John William Baldwin of Plain City.
Emma graduated from Plain City High School in 1944, relocated to Columbus to begin work with the Lazurus Department Store. After marriage she was a homemaker. She and her brother both treasured their time on the farm along the Big Darby and regaled everyone with tales of the antics they created. Mom loved to garden, sew, knit, crochet, and work jigsaw puzzles. She was an active participant in the Gillie Senior Center Service Circle until the covid pandemic, making comfort items for hospice patients. She was also a basket weaver and took part in pottery and ceramic classes offered at the Gillie. She loved rides in the country. She would often point out trees that caught her attention commenting on how beautiful they were. Her family and friends will remember her infectious laugh, her gentle kindness and her loving embrace.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Newcomer Northeast Chapel 3047 E Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus OH 43231 with a reception following at the Gillie Senior Center 2100 Morse Rd. Columbus OH 43229.
