Eric Shawn Poindexter

August 11, 1964 — December 31, 2021

On August 11th , 1964 a candle was lit for Eric Shawn Poindexter "Ziggy" and it burned brightly for 57 years and then began to dim and flicker and slipped quietly into an eternal sleep on December 31st, 2021.

He was a painter, a handyman, a loving and caring father and eventually became a licensed Primary Home Care Provider for his mother and brother. He was always there to help if you needed it, he took care of you like you were his own. If you needed something painted or fixed, help with cooking, or simply cleaning your house, he would help you. In his younger years, Ziggy took an intense passion into his high school swim and basketball teams at "Mifflin High School ''.

Ziggy was a huge fan of the Lakers basketball team. Some hobbies that followed Ziggy throughout his life included going to yard sales and finding hidden treasures. Another hobby he gained in his most recent years was going on the internet on YouTube and watching America's got talent videos. Some other hobbies he had were watching many movies and TV shows. He watched shows ranging from Criminal Minds , Sanford and Son, and The Munsters.

Some movies he watched were titled Equalizer, Underworld, and Unhinged. Although Ziggy wasn't very avid on video games, he always had a video game named "Galactica" in a very special place in his heart . One more interest Ziggy held near to him was listening to the word by a preacher named Noel Jones and Terry Anderson.

Ziggy was famously known for his iconic cooking skills. He'd always make sure to prepare a meal for everyone he knew, even his neighbors. One of Ziggy's most popular dishes was potatoes and eggs. He will be remembered for his booming love, and the nurturing care that he gave.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Maude (Wise) and Eugene Hairston, his parents Earl Poindexter, Carolyn and Robert Jackson Sr., his uncles Eugene, Warren (Lula), Karl (Elma), Ernest, and Michael (Ruth) Hairston, Joseph (Mildred) and Ponzy Poindexter , aunts Hazel (Robert) Dennis, Helen (Leon) Crump, Martha Henderson, Shirley (James) Tynes, Norma (Cecil) Boyd, Theresa Stewart, Peggy Kelly (Frank), Brenda Early, Great Aunt Martha Fencer, son Cody Gillespie.

He is survived by his siblings: sister Nell Mckethan (Earl), Barbara, and Jennifer, brothers Earle "Buddy" Poindexter, Terrence Poindexter (Stephanie), Patrick Jackson (Valerie), Danny Chandler, and Robert Jackson , First wife Lisa Snyder. His children: Paige Poindexter, Payton Poindexter, Morgan Poindexter, Erica Poindexter, and Kayla Harris. His nieces and nephews: Jade Mckethan, Paris Mckethan, Connor Mckethan, Davante Poindexter, Terrance Poindexter, Milan Poindexter, China Jackson, India Jackson, Israel Jackson, Sierra Young, and great niece Kay. His uncles and aunt: Walter Stewart Sr., Herbert Henderson, and Patricia Hairston. And by his many cousins, their children, their grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13th, 2021 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231. Graveside service will take place immediately after at 12:00 pm also on Thursday, January 13th, 2021.
