Esther D. Gorsuch (Walters) of Thornville, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. Esther was the owner of the Amos Inn which was located on Cleveland Avenue where she promoted bluegrass and country music for many years. Her sense of humor (no kin in a euchre game) and fun loving ways endeared her to many.
Preceded in death by her husband, Gary Gorsuch and former husband, Estell Walters; parents, Palmer and Mabel Penland; sister, Peggy Booth; brother, Joe Penland; sister-in-law, Annette Penland; brothers-in-law, Edward Morand and Tom Thompson; grandson, Todd Rhoades.
Survived by children, Connie (Terry) Holder of Pleasantville, Sandra (Bob) Raby of Minford, Edie (Tim) Buckle of Columbus and Robin (Tommy) Lewis of Thornville, Rusty Walters of Lakewood; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrea (Neil) Harner of Hillsville, VA, Carol Morand of Tannersville, VA, Judith Thompson of Hillsville, VA; brother, Robert (Ellen) Penland of Tazewell, VA.
Above all, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great friend to many. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial contributions to be made in her name to the Make A Wish Foundation, 2545 Farmers Drive, Suite 300, Columbus, OH 43235.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012, 4:00 PM with Visitation from 2-4 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231.
