In Loving Memory of Evelyn Diaz Santiago
Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend
It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Evelyn Diaz Santiago, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, on March 9, 2025, at the age of 67. Evelyn was a gentle soul whose kindness, compassion, and love left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on May 24, 1957, in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, Evelyn was the daughter of Jose Miguel Diaz Berrios and Pura Dolores Santiago Aponte. She lived a life full of grace, humility, and love, always putting others before herself. Her gentle nature and quiet strength made her a beloved figure in the lives of all who knew her.
As a mother, Evelyn was the embodiment of unconditional love and support. Her two daughters, Taina Guilfu Hernandez and Yahaira Guilfu Hall, were the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and guiding them with patience and care. Her wisdom and tender heart will live on through the lessons she imparted and the love she gave so freely.
As a sister, Evelyn was a constant source of strength and comfort to her siblings, Luisa, Jose Miguel, Luis, Domingo and Socorro. Her presence was a calming force, and her ability to listen, understand, and offer unwavering support made her irreplaceable. The bond they shared will continue to shine brightly in their hearts.
As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Evelyn’s love extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her affection, love and warmth. Her role as a matriarch in her family was one of deep love and care, and her legacy will live on in the generations that followed her.
As a friend, Evelyn was a rare and precious treasure. She had a quiet way of making others feel heard, seen, and valued. Her friendships were built on trust, kindness, and a deep sense of caring, and her absence leaves a space that will never be filled. To know Evelyn was to know true friendship, and her legacy as a friend will live on in the many lives she touched.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Taina Guilfu Hernandez & Juan Hernandez and Yahaira Guilfu Hall & Ashton Hall, as well as her beloved grandchildren Marielena, Liannah, Aveon, Dahiana, Darian, Yelenny, and Ashton and great-grandchildren Elysiana, Alayiah, and Josiah. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Miguel Diaz Berrios and Pura Dolores Santiago Aponte and sister Luisa. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit, love, and the memories she created will live on forever.
