Evelyn "Elvi" Ekdahl, 84, of Columbus, passed away Monday, November 17, 2008 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. She was born February 22, 1924, in Baraga, Michigan, daughter of the late Erick and Emma Sipola. In addition to her parents, Elvi was preceded in death by a son, Steven Ekdahl; daughter, Margaret "Margo" LaPointe; granddaughter, Loretta LaPointe; brother Erick Sipola; sisters, Esther Priami and Ellen Theobold. She is survived by her husband, John Ekdahl; grandchildren, Nicolas (Michelle) LaPointe and Sarah (Jeremy) Wolfe both of Grove City; son-in-law, Howard LaPointe of Columbus; great grandchildren, Haley, Hannah and Dylan. Memorial service will be Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Grace of God Lutheran Church, 1000 S. Demorest Road Columbus, Ohio 43204, with visitation one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church in Elvi's memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home S.W. Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City.
