It is with great sadness we share the passing of Florence.
Florence Valli, age 73, of Columbus Ohio passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023 at the Kobacker House. She was born in Corning, New York to the late Adelbert Kretschmann and Catherine Spaulding on June 6, 1950.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gino of 52 years and sister, Kaye Kretschmann.
Florence is survived by cousin, Ruth Miele Hungsinger; siblings, Jake Gmelin, Clair Kretschmann, Claire Gmelin. Brother and sister in-laws, Paolo Valli, Isacco A. Valli, Ubaldo Valli, Elisa (Sean) Valli Doherty, Maria Valli; nieces and nephews, Free Spirit, Dana (Leah) Hadlock, Tanya (Russel) Wayne, Katherine (Travis) Haner, Annalisa Valli, Mea Doherty, Francesca Doherty, Isabella Doherty along with numerous great niece and nephews, cousins and friends.
Florence earned her Bachelors in Arts at The Ohio State University. Florence was a beautiful artist. From geometric to portraits. She enjoyed learning lots of new and different things. She was curious about how things worked, how people thought and what made the world go round. She had a girly side with shoes and purses but she was most comfortable in some work clothes and a project at hand. She never rushed through a job just to get it done. She always made sure it was done just how she wanted it. Florence could really drive people crazy sometimes but she did have a vision and a passion for everything she did. Her laugh was infectious and she was always willing to give someone a chance. She was a great and loyal sister, Aunt, friend, and neighbor. She loved to put together puzzles, play games and especially play euchre any chance she could. Florence loved being apart of card party.
Sadly, Florence and Gino never got to become parents but became parents to all of their fur babies. Dallas, Ollie, Nina, Max Missy, Tuffy, Ginger, and Jake were joy in their lives. They were crazy in love with each of them.
Florence enjoyed to travel to many destinations with friends and loved ones. Always taking in all the food, art and architecture a place had to offer. Florence and Gino enjoyed traveling everywhere together most of all. They did an art and architecture trip, traveling mostly in the cooler months in Europe, along with visiting friends and relatives. They also loved the mai tai trips to beaches in Hawaii and the Caribbean during the coldest months of the year.
She is gone but will forever remain in our hearts. She is finally reunited with Gino for their best adventure yet.
Family and friends would like to send a huge thank you to the staff and volunteers with hospice and the Kobacker house, for their help through this difficult time.
Private Committal prayers and interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning, NY
