Frances E. Bates, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October, 29, 2006, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 9, 1919, in Salina KS, daughter of the late William and Grace Vanatta Allen. She is precdeded in death by her husband Lawrence A. Bates. She is survived by a son, Rev. Lawrence (Anita) Bates of Columbus, OH; daughter, Laree (Dr. Larry) Morgenstern of Eugene, OR; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Allen of Chicago and John (Barb) Allen of Palo MO; sisters, Doris Lawson of Kansas City and Mary Katherine (Al) Miller of Excelsior, MO. Frances was recognized as a lady golfer of the year at Lake Barton Golf Course in Kansas in 1975. Graveside services will be at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, KS on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kansas Wesleyan Athletic Department for golf scholarships. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home N.E. Chapel, 3047 E.
