Frank David Swicegood, age 84, passed into eternal life on Monday July 22nd. He was a graduate of West High School, a U.S. Navy Veteran and successful as a business owner with Allstate Insurance Agent for most of his life. Frank David was a member of First Baptist Grove City Church. He will be remembered for loving the Lord Jesus Christ, his family, the U.S. Navy and The Ohio State Buckeyes! He loved to volunteer and participate in numerous groups and activities. He received numerous outstanding recognition awards from Allstate and Kiwanis.

He was known as Dancin’ Dave for many years as he helped to plan and lead the Mini T.I. program, helping to keep high school kids away from drugs and alcohol. His favorite part of the program was planning the relay race all throughout Judson Hills Campground.

At West Franklin Kiwanis, he was a 2-time president and other various offices.

He served many years as the Financial Secretary for the American Baptist Bible and Missions Conference.

He organized more pizza fund raisers than we can count! He also often enjoyed keeping stats for Lincoln Baptist Church’s youth basketball program.

At Lincoln Baptist Church he served as a deacon, youth leader, and financial secretary

One of his greatest passions was singing for the Lord. He was a part of The Son’s of Liberty men’s quartet singing gospel songs all throughout churches in Ohio and surrounding states. A member of the Four Winds Barbershop Chorus while in Gulf Shores. He loved to sing in the church choir and participate in the church dramas. He loved pageantry.

He was married to the love of his life, Janet, for 58 years. He is survived by his children, son Chris (Jaime) Swicegood, and daughter Kimberly (Chad) Laughrey; his grandchildren, Casey Courtright, Ryan Meinert, Brandon Swicegood, Cayden Swicegood, Alexandra (Jay) Kunzi, Luke Johnston, and Grace Laughrey; and great-grandchild Sunni Franki Kunzi, Scarlet Meinert, and Brantley Meinert; sister, Marilyn Compton; sister-in-laws, Joan Swicegood, Connie Miller; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and great friends. Frank David was preceded in death by Father Rhea Swicegood, Mother Elizabeth McInturff, stepdad Charlie McInturff, brothers Richard “Dick” (Elsie) and Jack Swicegood, stepsister Henrietta Newman. 

Friends may call at First Baptist Church of Grove City, 3301 Orders Rd, Grove City, OH 43123 on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Grove City with visiting 2 hours before. A graveside service will be held directly afterwards at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church’s in c/o either Baptist Builders or Kids Camp Fund or Mount Carmel Hospice.
