Franklin Delano Scales Sr., 76, of Columbus, passed away after a courageous battle with COPD surrounded by his loving family Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Mt. Carmel West. He was born January 30, 1934, in Columbus, son of the late Francis "Skeets" and Bernadine "Bee" Boehm Scales. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Michael Scales; sister, Ginger O'Hanlon; daughter-in-law, Linda Scales. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1952 and was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Knights of Columbus #2898 and Moose Lodge #11. Frank retired from the Columbus Fire Dept. (Station #12 & Alarm Office) after 35 years of service and was also a founding member of the Columbus Firefighter's Museum. He is survived by his children, Franklin Jr., Jeffrey, Bradley (Sharon), Kimberly Shoaf, Kathleen (Gordon) Gronbach, Gregory (Chris) , Becky Dagostino, Pam (Jeff) Ison and Jenny (Joe) Keller; brother, Albert (Dorothy); sisters, Patty Azbell, Judy (Mike) Brown, Mary Smith; brother-in-law, Bob O'Hanlon; sister-in-law, Jean Scales; aunts, Annie Guyer, Luella Albert, Jenny and Mickey Boehm; 27 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Monday, March 15, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City and also Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3730 Broadway Grove City.
