Fred Small Sr. of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born in New York City on September 7, 1928, and is preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Survivors include his wife, Joanne (Baxter) Small; daughters, Vondra (Donald) White,Lunett Giles, Oemetria Smith and Steshia Brown; sons, Fred (Cornelia) Small Jr; brother, Reverend Samuel Thomas; grandchildren, Donald White Jr, Stephen White, Davone Smith; Darshon Smith, David Smith Jr, Tyeshia Peters, Corey White Jr, special granddaughter, Madisyne Milner; brother-in-law, Mack (Gina) Baxter; sisters-in-law, Minister Beulah (Dave) Hamilton, Minnie Miller, Belinda Baxter; mother-in-law, Irene Palmer; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Fred is a retired veteran of the US Air Force, worked for AEP and Park Towers Condominiums. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg, OH. Special thanks to the staff at Grant Medical Center, Dr. Garabis, Dr. Sundaram, Dr. Rankine, Dr. Blackman, Dr. Saniyka and everyone at Westminster Thurber.
