Gary L. Agre, 74, of Westerville, Ohio passed away February 4th at his home.
Visitation will take place at 6 p.m. followed by a service at 7 p.m. on February 8th in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date.
Mr. Agre was born January 6, 1943, in Mattoon, Illinois to Ralph C. and Arlene (Fitzgerald) Agre. Gary was a 1960 graduate of Canton Senior High School in Canton, Illinois. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, the Institute of Aviation and the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois and graduated from the latter in 1972 with his Bachelor of Science in Education degree. He worked as an aerospace design engineer for Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas and McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Company in St. Louis, Missouri during the 1970's. He was proud of his work in the design of the F-18 fighter jet. He started his own designing business before retiring in the early 2000's. Mr. Agre retired to Westerville, Ohio where he spent his time with his longtime partner and love, Susan Kennell, helping her raise her two sons, going to casinos and rooting on the Columbus, Ohio teams. Some of Gary's favorite pastimes were researching on the Internet, reading, growing flowers, tinkering with old cars and the history of aviation. Gary chose "the road less traveled by" many times in his life and instilled it into the young generations that were a part of his life.
Mr. Agre's survivors include his loving partner, Susan Kennell; two sons, Gary S. (Carla Tosh) Agre of Mehlville, Missouri and Mark (Susan) Agre of Stilwell, Kansas; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Skarvan, Jared Agre, Zachary Agre and Blake Agre, two stepsons, Justin and Jordan Kennell of Westerville, Ohio; two sisters, Marlene (Danny) Brush of rural Memphis, Missouri and Cynthia (Eddie) Breese of Fiatt, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
