Gary L. Sherman, age 76, of Gahanna passed away on March 5, 2023. He was born on May 5, 1946 in Columbus to the late Lee Sherman and Violet Peake. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his son, Gary Scott Sherman; brother, Karroll Bandy; brother-in-law, Bob Stotler and mother-in-law, Jean Wimer.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lisa; children, Julie (John) Mullins, Tracy (Cynthia) Fisher, Stacy Sherman, Dennis (Jodi) Loper II, Bylle-Jean Loper, Emilee Anne Sherman; sisters, Trena (Les) Edmonds, Claudia Stotler; grandchildren, Jillian (Ryan) McGuire, Kenzi (Joe) Messer, Taylor (Cody) Evans, Cierra VanDyke, Carissa VanDyke, Madison Sherman, Elizabeth Guin Morello, Henry Caleb Morello, Elijah William Loper, Christian Mullins, Ian Mullins; great grandchildren, Sophia McGuire, Markus Scott Messer, Maverick Monroe Messer; father-in-law, William Wimer; sister-in-law, Beth (Thomas) Krouse; along with many other family and friends.
Gary (Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Mister Honey) was a man of great faith and loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved his family and friends. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Gary's life touched so many over the years, living in many states but primarily in Ohio. He was sealed to his wife and children in the Columbus Ohio Temple.
Gary was in the carpet business for over 50 years. He loved all kinds of music from 50s Doo-Wop and ZZ Top to beautiful hymns. He loved hot rods and restoring classic cars. Gary enjoyed action movies and shows, especially Walker, Texas Ranger and liked to pick cherries from the cherry tree with his youngest grandchildren. Gary will be forever loved and missed daily.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2135 Baldwin Road, Reynoldsburg 43068. Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by procession to Concord Cemetery, 6244 Hoover Road, Grove City 43123.
