Gene "Ole Hogger" Cooke Sr., 82, of Grove City, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Doctors West Hospital. He was born September 22, 1927, in Mingo Junction, OH, son of the late Andrew and Nancy Cooke. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Andy Cooke and brother, Donald Cooke. He served in the Navy during WWII, was a member of the Harrisburg U.M. Church, lifetime member of the Hilltop Sportsman Club, NRA and V.F.W. Post 11208 where he was chaplain for 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Walker Cooke; sons, Gene (Betty) Cook Jr., Steve Cook, John Cook, John Pasicka, Joe Pasicka and Jay (Sue) Pasicka; daughters, Cass (Jim) Hutchison, Teresa (Dwight) Day, Helen (Don) Marker, Ethel (Dale) Vaughn, Gerry (Darryl) Burt and Joyce (Mike) Phelps; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City. Funeral service will be Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with Pastor Edwin Martin, officiating. Interment will be in Grove City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harrisburg U.M. Church, P.O. Box 201 Harrisburg, OH 43126.
