Gene Newman, 75, of Gahanna, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Traditions Nursing Home. He was born November 21, 1935, in Columbus, son of the late Cecil and Ruth Newman. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Newman. He is survived by his daughter, Jill (Jack) Havnen; sons, Todd (Sylvia) Newman, Matt (Cari) Newman and his beloved pet, Joey. Gene was a 1953 graduate of Powell High School. He also served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 239 for 25 years, Moose Lodge #1167 for 40 years, N.R.A. and an avid O.S.U. fan. Visitation will be Monday, July 18, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Good Samaritan Church, 620 McCutcheon Rd Gahanna, with the memorial service beginning at 7:00 PM.
