George Clenard Smith, 70, of Grove City, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Doctor's Hospital. He was born to the late Albert and Leona Smith on March 7, 1938 in Lilly Chapel, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Orville, James, Bob, John, and Roy; and sister, Louise. He was the owner of Smith Equipment and Truck Sales and Masons Sand and Gravel. George is survived by his wife, Christine Conner-Smith; daughter, Faye Kelly and her husband, better known by George as "Dr." Dave; son, George Steven (Jody) Smith; grandchildren, Steven Lee, Gabrielle "Gabby", and Rebekah Lynn; siblings, June Johnson, Donald (Carolyn) Smith, Charles (Brenda) Smith and Nancy (Ted) Wetzel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by an unbelievable amount of wonderful friends and business associates. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations in George's honor may be made your local animal shelter.
