George E. Edmisten, 81, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family February 1, 2022.
He was born in Portsmouth, OH on November 4, 1940 to the late Frank R. and Clara M. (Ingles) Edmisten.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Sue Carnes; and his most recent wife, Mary Ruth Prater; and brother, Theodore Edmisten.
Surviving family includes children, Susan Booth, Amy Edmisten, George R. (Jackie) Edmisten; grandchildren, Sarah (Evan), Jessica (Bryant), Derek, Skye, Jordan (Ena), Rachel, Logan, Aleiah, Gia, Sam, Sophie; great grandchildren, Penelope, Tyler, Cody, Wesley, Caroline, Jayden, Jace, Maggie, Ozias, Ezari, Azani; siblings, Frank (Linda) Edmisten; as well as many other loving extended family and friends.
He attended Portsmouth High School and lettered in Baseball and Football.
George joined the United States Army in 1958, serving as a Medical Specialist and earned his Parachutist badge. He also attended the Airborne School in Fort Campbell, KY, receiving his Basic Airborne recognition. He served in the Airborne Battle Group, 501st Infantry.
At his request an intimate family service will be held.
