George Glenn Martin, Jr., 78, peacefully slipped away to heaven on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at home in his favorite recliner that Nathan brought for him.
He was born on November 21, 1943 in Sharon, West Virginia to the late George, Sr. and Clarice Martin.
George is preceded in death by brothers, Cecil T Martin, Degore Martin; sister, Wanda Johnson and step-mother, Bonnie Martin.
George leaves behind to remember in spirit and loving memory his children; only daughter, Lisa (Michael) Watkins (mother, Marva) his three sons, Nathan (Amy) Martin, Jimmy Wilder, Dwayne (Thea) Wilder (mother, Gwendolyn);
He is also survived by his siblings, Cereda (Daniel) Rispress, Joe Brown, Mary Turner, Alonzo (Shelly) Martin, Mario Martin and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends and a special friend.
George's family moved to Ohio when he was a boy where he resided, raised his family and retired from the Ohio State University. He was a faithful member of the Abundant Faith Church under the tutelage of Charles Brown-Bishop and Ethel Brown-Pastor.
Anyone who knew George, knew his most favorite pastimes were watching the Cleveland Browns-"Dog Pound" forever, fishing on some river bank catching crappies and his love for Western movies. But, his most cherished thing in the world was family.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 12:00 pm also at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
