George Michael Needham

GEORGE NEEDHAM, age 68, died on November 28,2023, his thirty-first wedding anniversary. He was born in Buffalo, NY, on July 3, 1955, and was preceded in death by his parents, Paul James and Dolores Ann (Duffy) Needham. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Joyce Leahy; his siblings, Dennis (Sandy); Joe (Denise); Marian (partner Rick Bielecki), and Dan (Pam). He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Kate Wallace (Robert) Callison, and his wonderful grandchildren, Jacob and Mallory.

George worked in and for libraries for more than 50 years, the last seven as the director of the Delaware County District Library. George enjoyed reading, playing the guitar, movies, old-time radio, theater, the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Chicago Cubs, but his greatest pleasure came from enjoying Joyce's performances in local theater productions.

George's family want to express their appreciation to the staff of Ohio Health Hospice and Kobacker House for the kindness, care, and compassion shown to him in his final days. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Friends of the Delaware County District Library or your favorite live theatre group.

There will be no visitation; arrangements handled by Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel-Powell. A celebration of George's life will be scheduled soon.
