George Russell Smith Sr.
January 3, 1942 — October 7, 2023
George Russell Smith Sr. 81, lifelong resident of Jersey township, passed away on October 7th, 2023 surrounded by family.
George was born January 3rd, 1942 to Bernard M. and Sarah (Alward) Smith. George was a graduate of Licking Heights School.
George married his high school sweetheart Betty and together they ran Clover Crest Dairy Farm. As a couple they supported the Hartford Fair and Ohio State Fair in the beef barn. Together they ran the Harding Centre Restaurant. George was very active in real estate development.
Eventually George turned the dairy farm into a horse facility, Heritage Farm Stables. He enjoyed taking care of the horses and sponsoring horse shows on the farm.
In 2004, George married Marcia Myers. George and Marcia enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
George will be deeply missed by his daughter Melinda (Randy) Lycans and son George R. (Beth) Smith Jr. Stepdaughters, Julie (Jeff) Taylor and Cathy (Paul) Kirsch. Grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda), Elizabeth, Nicholas (Carlie), and Benjamin Lycans. Stepgrandchilren, Hannah, Emily, Ben Taylor and Katie, Nolan, Adam Krisch. Brother Charles (Debbie) Smith. Several nieces and nephews.
George is proceeded in death by Betty L. Smith and Marcia Smith.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 from 5-8pm at Newcomer North East Chapel 3047 E. Dublin- Granville Rd Columbus, OH 43231. A service will take place on Friday, October 20th, 2023 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow.
