Gerald E. Hunt fondly known as Jerry, was born on November 6, 1947, in Columbus Ohio. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 11, 2024.
Jerry led a life full of accomplishments and was well-respected in his community. He graduated from West High School in the Class of 1966. Shortly after graduation he joined the Air Force and served honorably for four years, becoming a proud Vietnam veteran. After his military service, Jerry dedicated his career to the City of Columbus as a carpenter and expert cabinet maker, retiring from this skilled profession.
Jerry was known for his kind and loving nature. Described as a friend to everyone and a stranger to none. He was always a joy to be around, bringing laughter and fun to every gathering. His passions included camping and fishing at Lake Erie, being a 32nd Degree Mason for 41 years serving as Master of the Rickly Lodge #670 and President of the 14th District Officers Association & was a Scottish Rite Mason.
He was an avid golfer where he notably achieved three holes in one. In addition, he was a devoted Buckeye fan, celebrating each victory with enthusiasm.
Jerry is survived by his beloved sister Lynda (Curtis) Marcum; half-brother Charlie (Heather) Hunt; step-son John Hunt; niece Polly (Mark) Delong: Great Nephew Curtis Ewing. He also leaves behind many cousins as well as special friend Barb Demetro.
He was preceded in death by his father Gerald E. Hunt Sr.; mother Rose (Yonadi) (Hunt) Belknap and son Jerry Hunt lll.
A memorial gathering to honor Jerry will take place on Monday November 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM; Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. 43123. He will be privately laid to rest by the family at Madison Mills Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio.
Jerry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
