Gerald A. Loudermilk

September 1, 1930 — June 30, 2018

Gerald Arthur Loudermilk, 87, of Grove City, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2018, passing away at Dayton VA Lakeside Manor, Dayton.

Born Sept. 1, 1930 in Columbus, he was the son of the late Otis and Mahada (Williams) Loudermilk. He was preceded in death by his first wife, N. Doreen Baumgartner; and second wife, Patricia A. "Pat" Coriell. Gerald grew up in Columbus and Jackson County, Ohio.

He served in the U.S. Army (Korean Conflict) from 1951 to 1953 in the Military Police, stationed in Mannheim, Germany. His career included work at United Refrigeration, and the Schottenstein Companies. He was the owner of National Home Maintenance Corp., Loudermilk Investments, Loudermilk & Associates, and GALCO Realty, specializing in property management, building maintenance, appraisals and real estate.

Gerald and his wife, Pat, enjoyed being foster parents to more than 40 children over a period of several years.

Surviving are his children, Jeri Lynn (Tim) DeVries of Jacksonville, FL., Gerald (Jody) Loudermilk II of Circleville, and Rochelle (Fred) Hawk of Logan; grandchildren, Brooke Gillen of Los Osos, Calif., Benjamin DeVries of Gainesville, Fla., and Shelby Loudermilk of Circleville. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Jo Davis and Bernice "Dolly" Oyer, both of Grove City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, all of whom he loved dearly.

One of 12 children, he also was preceded in death by siblings, Robert "Bob", Eula "Catherine" Kelling, Louisa, Oliver "Tag", Laura, Marvin, Charles, Elizabeth "Kitty" Bradley, and Richard "Dick" Loudermilk.

A wonderful person with a kind heart and a generous spirit, he was known for his love of the Lord, helping anyone who needed it, attending every family function until his health no longer allowed it, his ability to fix anything, his talent for drawing, and his love of cooking. He had a magic touch with crying babies and was the favorite uncle to so many.

A special thanks to niece, Chrissy Cooper and husband Roger and to Gerald's neighbors for their help at the house during Gerald's declining health.
