Geri Owen Howard
September 23, 1950 - February 20, 2023
Geri L. (Owen) Howard, loving mother and wife, went to be with the Lord on February 20th, 2023. She had suffered with Alzheimer's for several years and is now rejoicing in heaven. She was born to Ed and Edith Owen on September 23, 1950 at Mount Carmel West in Columbus Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, GramaLena; brother Bob; brother-in-law, Duane Bates; sister-in-law, Judy Howard; sister-in-law, Pat Howard; Imel and Amanda Howard, mother and father-in-law; Betty and Frank Patton; Sally Stahly; and Jay Bouma, brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Howard; son, Ryan Howard, (Meghan Howard); grandsons, Quinton and Theo Howard; Carol Ann Bouma, sister; Jan Owen, sister-in-law; brother-in-law, Roger and his wife Jane; Donald Howard and Don Stahly, brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Geri had many friends as well.
Geri was very active in her church all of her life. Geri taught in children's Sunday School classes, in various leadership roles, and various ministries over the years. She was well known for her enthusiastic positive attitude. Her laugh and kindness was contagious.
Geri worked in the business world with leadership roles as well. She was Assistant to the Director of Development for the City of Columbus. While there, she wrote legislation and managed the office as well as the secretarial staff. One of her favorite jobs was when she was the office secretary of the Hilliard Horizon Elementary where Ryan attended.
Geri had a great collection of hundreds of ceramic frogs, clothes, and even a frog umbrella. She liked to read and study her Bible, travel, family gatherings, parties, and even her husband Bob's jokes.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, February 24th, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Hilliard Church of the Nazarene, 3669 Leap Road, Hilliard, OH. 43026. You are also welcome at the church on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 with visitation from 10:00 am to 11: 00 am. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will follow from 11:00 am to 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Hilliard Church of the Nazarene in memory of Geri.
