Gertrude Jeanette Pickens, 83, Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette was born in Columbus, OH, December 21, 1927, to McGary Williams and Ellen Lucille Mathias and is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet L. (Fred) Abercrombie; son, James M. Pickens; granddaughter, Jajuanna L. Pickens. Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Larry) Grinston, Joyce Pickens, Jeannine Shippen, Janetta Pickens, Jeriene Pickens; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeanette worked at OSU as a dietician for 10 years and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her and will be missed greatly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2010, 10 – 11 AM at Rhema Christian Center, 2100 Agler Road, Columbus, OH 43224 with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM. Apostle LaFayette Scales will officiate. Entombment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
