Gideon Lamb "Bob" Sawyer, 82, passed away on June 17, 2021. He was born on October 17, 1938 in Norfolk, VA to the late Gideon L. Sr. and Lillian Sawyer.
Also preceded in death by his dog, Sophie. Surviving family includes loving wife, Pat, children, Joni (Tim) Paynter, grandchildren, Shawn (Sarah) Paynter, Megan (Jake) Phillips, great-grandchildren, Jackson, Reagan, Averey, Noah, siblings, Ella Florence Drew, Betty Hunter, Beecher Sawyer, in-laws, Judy Smith, Jennifer Sigrist, Michael Foley. Bob was a founding member of Cross Flags Corvette's Club, member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. Bob was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Rockwell International as a Manufacturing Engineer.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231. A funeral service will begin at 11am, Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Crossroads Baptist Church, 5075 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, OH 43231. Burial will follow at Mifflin Township Cemetery.
