Grady F. Evans Sr.

Rev. Grady F. Evans Sr., 88, of Columbus, passed away April 14, 2023. Grady was born August 4, 1934 in Cooter, MO to Elmer E. and Leila B. (Hicks) Evans.

Grady worked with local churches across Ohio and the country, He also led Southern Baptist ministry on college campuses across Ohio for 30+ years. Beginning in Southwest Ohio, and then later from the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio offices in Columbus Grady work with local leaders to assist in providing a Biblical witness and presence with students and faculty.

His passion was to share Jesus with others to lead them to a personal relationship. Grady received joy in helping others to uncover and reach their full potential. He was instrumental in starting many churches including a church called Fresh Start at the age of 76 to give people just that, a fresh start.

Grady will be deeply missed by his wife Marie (Steffey) Evans of 15 years; children Grady F. Evans Jr., Jan B. (Dan) Bryant; step-children Kimberly Hauersperger, Karin (Kenny) Greve; grandchildren Hope (Chris) Di Bartolo, Daniel (Sara) Bryant III, Brad Evans, Brandon Evans, Blake Evans; stepgrandchildren Nathan Hauersperger, Graham Hauersperger; great-grandchildren Isabella and Reily Di Bartolo, Layton and Julianna Bryant along with many other family and friends.

Grady was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bernice Rushing Evans of almost 51 years, sister Jane Hammock and step-granddaughter Alyssa Hauersperger.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5pm to 7pm at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:30am at Sharon Woods Church 5959 Sharon Woods Blvd.

Burial will be at Flint Cemetery at a later date.
