Gregory Harrison

December 31, 1961 — March 15, 2024

Gregory Allan Harrison (better known as Greg) passed away on March 15, 2024. He was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia on December 31, 1961 to Larry and Carolyn Harrison (nee Elliott). Greg graduated from Franklin Heights High School in 1980 and went on to work for Big Bear. In 2022 he retired from Hilliard City Schools as a head custodian after 20 years of employment.

In 1988 Greg married Karen Crandall. They had three children together before parting ways after 27 years.

In 2016, after the tragic passing of his son Austin, Greg was the ultimate example of the strength and grace it takes to navigate through life after experiencing such a loss. He missed Austin terribly and we know they had quite the reunion.

Greg enjoyed working on projects inside his home and working out in his yard. He had a knack for landscaping and always had the greenest grass on the block.

He considered the holidays to be a big deal. Every year he would host and cook Thanksgiving dinner and he loved decorating for Christmas. He always had the best looking light display in the neighborhood.

Greg also enjoyed spending time with family, and eating a nice meal out. He could often be found at Ari's Diner on Saturday mornings having breakfast with his mom, and Planks on Tuesday evenings eating pizza with his brother Dean and his family.

Greg adored the canine companions he took care of throughout the years. His beloved Zoey and Raven kept him active and busy when going through some tough times. Greg also adored his current dog Toby, who brought him a lot of happiness and comfort when he needed it most.

His greatest joy of all though was his kids. He loved when his daughters stopped over just to visit. They would never leave his house empty handed as he would always send them home with a bag or two of whatever he thought they may need.

Greg is survived by his daughters, Kaylyn and Megan Harrison, his mother, Carolyn Harrison, Aunt, Evelyn Elliott, brother, Dean (Pam) Harrison, nephews, Chris (Katelin) Harrison, Zach Harrison and Tyler Harrison, his Gallipolis family, a host of many other family members and dear friends, and former wife and mother of his children, Karen Crandall.

He is preceded in death by son, Austin Harrison, father, Larry Harrison, sister, Juliann Gray, nephew, Nick Harrison and uncle, Eugene Elliott.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Greg's memory to The Palliative Medicine-Hospice Endowment Fund for The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. (https://www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/details/645612?Source_Code=MED_MEDCTR-0-WaystoGive-ON-S)
