Harry C. Henthorne, Jr., 88, of Westerville, passed away peacefully November 26, 2021 at Kobacker House Hospice.
Harry was born in Columbus Ohio on August 3, 1933. He was the oldest son of the late Harry Sr. and Florence Henthorne.
Known as "Sonny" to his family and close friends, he was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School, and went on to serve proudly in the US Army from 1953-1955. He followed that with a lifetime of hard work in the grocery industry.
Harry was always active, working well into his mid-80s. He was a long-time member of Christ Fellowship Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir.
He also loved sports and was an avid golfer, bowler, softball player, and baseball coach, and loved cheering for his Reds, Browns & Buckeyes.
And no one enjoyed dancing more than he did, showing off impressive moves at weddings and events. Rumor has it he won several tap dancing contests as a young man.
Harry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn (Young) Henthorne; brother Jerry Henthorne and sister Linda Minerd.
He is survived by his sisters Nancy Snelling and Mickie (Lou) Pieper; daughter Kelly (Kenny) Farrow; sons David and Christopher Henthorne; grandchildren Hannah, Dylan, Parker, Ramsey, Jacob, Isadora; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.
He was lucky to find love and companionship again later in life, and is preceded in death by very special friends Ann Pryfogle and Sharon Sherrod. He will be greatly missed by all.
With grateful hearts, we appreciate the kindness and compassion of the nursing team and staff at Grant Hospital and Kobacker House Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 6th, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231.
