Harry Maceo Peake, Jr. was born November 26, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the first of five children born to the late Harry Maceo and Bessie Coffey Peake.
Harry attended Columbus Public Schools and served in the U.S. Army from March 31, 1953 through September 23, 1955.
Throughout his life he held many jobs. He enjoyed watching Ohio State and Cleveland Brown football games, but most of all, he was an avid fisherman. Every year he looked forward to going fishing at the Maumee River and Freemont. He said it made him feel like a kid on Christmas morning.
Harry peacefully passed away Tuesday evening, August 18, 2020, at the age of 87, while under the care of the Canal Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Mt. Carmel Hospice. The staff was very fond of him and always brought him ice cream with every meal because he loved it so much.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Bessie Peake; brothers Charles, Dennis and David Peake; and son Wayne Peake. He is survived by sister Juliann McIver; sons David (Vickie) Peake, Wendell (Sally) Peake, Kevin (Patricia) Peake, Michael (Odessa) Peake and Darrell Peake; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
