Hazel Lucille Banker

Hazel Lucille (Smith) Banker, age 94, passed into Glory Friday May 26, 2023 after a long, active life. She is joining her parents, Wilford Smith and Ruth (Bellville) Smith; her spouse Donald James Banker; her siblings, Mary T. Smith, Sherman (Margaret) Smith, Clifford (Harriet) Smith, Virginia (Bruce) Miracle, and Estaletta (Ray) Cameron; Sister-in-law Maxine Smith; her middle son, James R. Banker; her grandchildren, Darrell, Brian, and Laura Banker, her best friend Jean Hilkowski as well as many extended family and friends. She is survived by her brother Lester Smith; her beloved children Donald (Virginia) Banker and Jeffery Banker; her grandchild Katie (Banker) Lynch (Andrew); and her adored great-grandchildren Brendon, Evan, Austin, and Caroline Lynch, and many extended family members.
Hazel was a member of the Faith Community Church of God where she especially loved the classic hymns. Hearing "Because He Lives" gave her the hope and conviction to make it through difficult struggles and celebrate the future she is now experiencing. Hazel retired from Ryder Trucking Company after many decades of service. Yet after "retiring" she took on many jobs to fill her time including working another decade at CVS. She loved to keep busy and did not like idle time. In recent years, in addition to cheering on her Buckeyes, especially basketball and football, her favorite hobby is bragging to everyone about her great grandchildren. Keeping in line with her simple lifestyle, a simple casual service will be held Faith Community Church of God 4203 Alkire Road, Grove City, Ohio on June 9, 2023 at noon followed by a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery 3840 Sunbury Rd, Columbus, Ohio. Despite her love of flowers, especially purple ones, the family requests in lieu of flowers, we ask donations to be made to her church FCCG 4203 Alkire Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123 to continue their ministry.
