Helen was born on August 18, 1926 in Chesterfield S.C., to George Lindsey and Lina Wall, who both preceded her in death. She was the second oldest child.
In 1950, Helen married her beloved husband, Willie Gibson, Sr. in Lilesville, N.C. From this union, one child was born, Willie Gibson, Jr. As her only child, they shared a very special bond. She was a devoted mother and wife. She was also a determined and hard worker. She eventually went on to own and operate a small store. She was well known in her community.
In 1976, she and her husband relocated to Columbus, OH to be closer to her family; especially her three grandchildren whom she found pleasure and joy spending time with.
Helen was known for her thriftiness and her spunky, fearless personality; saying what was on her mind. She loved to tell stories and had a contagious laugh. Some of her interests were fishing and cooking. Her family enjoyed her homemade 3-tier cakes; especially Chocolate and Coconut.
One of her favorite past times was quilting. Each pattern was unique, and she loved to share her quilts with family and friends.
She also loved decorating her home and collecting knick-knacks. She was a master at completing puzzles. It was not uncommon to visit Helen and see her working on a 1,000+ piece puzzle and displaying it afterwards.
In the last few years of her life; Helen decided to start spending time studying the Bible and learning of Jehovah's promise of paradise on the earth, which included the resurrection hope.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gibson, Sr.; two brothers, George Lindsey, Crawford Wall; two sisters, Wilhemenia Bibb and Johnsie Lindsey.
She is survived by her only remaining sister, Effie Lindsey; her son, Willie (Sally) Gibson, Jr.; grandchildren, Patrick (Kim) Gibson of Kansas City, Missouri; Cassandra (Eddye) Williams of Columbus, Ohio, Shawnda Gibson of Columbus, Ohio; great granddaughters, Paige and Ashley Williams; and, one great-great grandson, Greyson Bivens; as well as, special friend, Christina (Irving) Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews with whom she shared a special relationship.
