Helen M. Mendes, 76, Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, after a short illness. Helen was born to the late August P and Laura (Raymond) Albert Sr in Fall River, MA., on May 27, 1932, and is also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alfred A. Mendes, Sr; sister, Dorothy Oliveria; brother, August P. Albert II. Survivors include her daughters, Sherry (Tim) Smith, Josephine (Kenneth) Euman, Debra (Michael) Arends; son, Alfred "Fred" (Kristie) Mendes; sister, Katherine (Edward) Caouette and brother, John P. Albert, of Fall River, MA; grandchildren, Kevin Euman, Laura (Nate) Koch, Stephen, Jolene, James, Kimberly and Sarah Euman, Justin (Sara) Arends, Jessica (Brian) Dorion, Jennifer (Aaron Power) Arends, Jordan Arends, Abigail, Dalaney and Nicholas Mendes; great-grandchild, Gavin Power; nieces, nephews, special friend, Freda Mickler and many additional friends. Helen's greatest loves in life were her children and grandchildren. Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be held on January 24, 2009, 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43213 with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the Mass. Rev. Raymond Larussa celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic School or Mount Carmel Foundation, 793 West State Street, Columbus, OH 43222.
