Sykes
Henry B. Sykes age 97, of Columbus, Ohio peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 13, 2007.
Loving and supporting husband and father born March 22, 1910 in Elkhart, Indiana. Preceded in death by parents Walter and Maud Sykes, sister, Carolyn,
and loving wife of 60+ years, Ruth Lucille Sykes. Surviving children are Donna (Bob) of Kettering, Bill (Patty) of Canal Winchester, David (Sharon) of Groveport, Henry III (Sandy) of Cincinnati, and Pamela (Jim) of Lake Forest, Ill., grandchildren Andrew, Amy, Michelle, Mark, Henry IV,and Corey; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jackson, Kaylei and Kylee.
He was a Retired Division Sales Manager of Lily-Tulip Cup Corp. and after retirement worked ten years for the State of Ohio.
He received letters of commendations from Bishop Herrman and
Sheriff Berkemer for volunteer work.
"Hank" attended Indiana University in Pre Med, and was a Navy veteran of 42 months service in WW II with foreign service in Saipan, M.I.
He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and member of Blendon
Lodge #339 F&AM, 32nd Mason Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Shrine. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels since 1964.
The family will receive friends at the Newcomer Funeral Home 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday April 19, with a memorial service to be conducted at 12:00pm by the Rev Kay McGlinchey and interment at Union Cemetery.
