Herbert "Herb" D. Simpson, 61, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on April 24th, 2024, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.


Herb was born on March 20th, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Evelyn and John I. Simpson. He is survived by his step-mother, Mary Simpson, and his beloved wife, Chady Simpson. Herb is also survived by his children: Nichole Jordan, Heather Narramore, Terri Frontz, Nikki Simpson, Stephanie Simpson, and John Simpson. He was a proud grandfather to Kadience Simpson, Shawn Nelson Jr., Julian Nelson, Noah Jordan, and Ashlyn Frontz. Herb is also survived by his siblings/step siblings: Monica White, Jeaneytta Walker, Candice Brewer, Ronnie Parish, Perry Simpson, Jackie Parish, Tammie Parish, Deborah Lyon, and Brenda Nicholson.


In his leisure time, Herb found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, immersing himself in the pages of his favorite books, and indulging in the worlds of western and fantasy movies and shows. Herb had a passion for games, whether it was Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, or even an online strategy game.


Herb was a resilient man who faced numerous health challenges throughout his life, including battles with Leukemia, COPD, Lung Cancer, and other medical problems. Despite these obstacles, he approached life with strength and courage.


Above all, Herb will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor and his penchant for cracking jokes, no matter the circumstance. His laughter and light-hearted spirit brought warmth to the lives of all who knew him.


A private memorial celebration of Herb's life will be held for friends and family.
