Hilma Jean (Armentrout) Wilkinson, age 89, of Columbus, passed away on January 3, 2021, peacefully with her family by her side at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. She was born on September 2, 1931 to the late Vera M. (Steen) and Lawrence L. Armentrout.
On February 17, 1949 in Arkansas she married her childhood sweetheart, Russell Wilkinson. They were devoted to one another for 65 years until he preceded her in death on January 1, 2015. In her lifetime, Jean worked at many jobs including Kresge's Department Store, Gray Drugs and finally retiring from Rite Aide.
Jean was an avid reader and also loved country music, taking many trips with Russell to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN as well as Branson, MO and Renfro Valley, KY.
Most of all Jean was a loving mother and grandmother. Affectionately called "Memaw" by her family and even friends of the family. Being a great cook, Jean and Russell often delighted in preparing big, delicious meals and gathering the whole family together. She was proud of all her children's an grandchildren's accomplishments and loved to watch the antics and play of her littlest ones. Jean was a humble woman who always took interest in others and was a good listener, making each one feel valued. She was loved and will by missed by many.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Janice (Jimmy) Conway; sons, Howard (Glenda) Wilkinson, Rick (Sharon) Wilkinson, Randy (Barb) Wilkinson, Glenn (Cathy) Wilkinson; special niece, Helen (Rick) Stamper; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by her sons, Russell Pete and Gary Arlen.

The family will receive guests on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 9-11:00 a.m. at Newcomer-SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway in Grove City. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by procession to Franklin Hills Cemetery.
