Howard Ray, 74, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born November 13, 1935, from Mt. Sterling, son of the late Ralph and Alma Halterman Ray. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Nationwide with 30 years of service and was a special employee at Foxfire Golf Club as well as a member of the Columbus Elks #2700 and American Legion Post # 0082. Howard was a devoted, loyal man who enjoyed fun times with family and friends and was always eager for a round of golf. His unique wit, stories and jokes kept you laughing. Howard was truly a special man. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Judy Ray; sons, Bret Ray of Seattle and Terry Ray of Los Angeles; step-daughter, Jill (Steve) Grabovich; step-sons, Steve Davis and Scott (Karla) Davis; brothers, Bob, Dick and Max Ray; sister, Carole (Gene) McCullah; grandchildren, Kyra and Jonathon Ray, Michael (Shauna) Sartori, Amy (Bill) Amspaugh, Ashley (Zack) and Jason Grabovich, Jeremy, Melissa, Lauren, Nathan and Nicole Davis; seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd Columbus. Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
