Hubert A. Davidson

Hubert A. Davidson passed peacefully into the arms of God on Monday, October 2, 2023. He was born on Monday, March 17, 1930 in Gabbettville, Georgia to Ada Belle and George W. Davidson, Sr. He was the youngest of ten siblings.

Hubert grew up in a Baptist church. Hubert graduated with honors from a private all boys school in Elizabeth, NJ, where he was an amazing athlete playing football, track and field, and basketball. Shortly after he graduated, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.

During the Korean War, he was stationed in Japan, where he mastered judo and karate and became a 5th degree black belt. He was stationed in Columbus, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Edith L. Johnson. He also joined the Brotherhood of Prince Hall Masonic Temple. On December 1, 1968, he retired as a Sergeant E-5 with 20 years of service in the Air Force.

Hubert and Edith married on April 3rd, 1950. In their union, they gave birth to five children, Roberta, Hubert, Deborah, Carolyn and Gina. He got his CDL and drove across the US with transit for 15 years, after he worked ABF and retired again.

Hubert was a hard worker, a loving family man, who sacrificed time to provide for his family and was always there if we needed him. He will be loved and cherished by family and friends.

Hubert Davidson leaves to cherish in his memory, son, Hubert I. Davidson; daughters, Roberta Truss, Deborah A. Davidson, Carolyn S. Jackson (Keith), Gina M. Banks; sister, Georgia Mae Davidson (Detroit, MI).

Precious memories of Hubert will be cherished by his grandchildren, Andre Truss (Lupe), Sonja Combs, Linda Frazier (Brian), Donald Truss, Antonio Vallejo, Carmella Barber-Davidson, Carmen Belizaire (Romin), Nora Davidson, Eric Jackson (Kayla), Donna Davidson (Tameka), David Jackson, Scott Davidson, Cassie Banks and a legacy of love and memories for five generations of great, great, great, great, great grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends

Hubert Davidson was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith Louise Davidson; his father, George W. Davidson, Sr; mother, Ada Belle Davidson; brothers, Jim Thomas Davidson, George W. Davidson Jr., Willie Lee Davidson, Ira lee Davidson, Woodrow Davidson; sisters; Mary Francis Davidson, Annie Mae Benning, Ann Belle Davidson, Ada Davidson; grandsons, Ricardo Vallejo-Truss, James Davidson; great-grandson, Kelvin Johnson and great great-granddaughter, Tylah Davidson.

Family will receive friends on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm and Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10:00 am also at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery.
