ADAMS
Ivan Harold Adams, 81 years of Grove City and recently Ashville Ohio, died Thursday June 8, 2006. He was born December 2, 1924 to the late Ivory Adams and was raised by Ivory and his step-father James I. Nichols. Harold was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of which he was a faithful member. He was a World War II Veteran having served aboard the Battleship Colorado and partaking in 10 major battles during that war. He was a published author having written the book "Raining Hell" about his experiences during the war. He was the founder of the Brookshire Baseball Association, which allowed many youth in the hilltop area to play organized baseball. The organization still exists today. He was a member of the Columbus, Ohio Boxing and Wrestling Commission. He was a salesman most of his life, having sold life insurance for many local companies, including Monumental Life and Columbus Life. He was preceded in death by his first wife Doris Viola Hakes, daughter Candace, and grandson Seth. He is survived by eternal companion and wife of 49 years Mercedes Jane Cutshall-Adams; Daughter, Doris A. (Wade) Dunham; Son, Timothy H (Michele) Adams 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; Brother, Paul C. Nichols of West Virginia; Sister, Norma Jean (Richard) Landis of Orient, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses for their compassion during Harold's extended illness but a special thank you to the team at Vista Care Hospice for being such loving friends. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00PM Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 1:30PM Monday, June 12, 2006 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 2400 Red Rock Blvd. Grove City, Ohio.
