Jack Lyons Lockard passed away peacefully at home March 1, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born July 30, 1921, in Fresno, OH, son of the late Harry and Mabel Lyons Lockard. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Coble and brother, George Lockard. He served in the Army during WWII. Jack graduated from Bliss Business School and worked for many years as a mortgage loan officer. He served on the board of the Forest Park Civic Association. Jack also coached little league baseball and basketball in the Forest Park Leagues. He was an active charter member of the Epworth United Methodist for over 50 years. Jack was an avid harness racing fan that traveled to many county fairs including the Little Brown Jug following the horse that he co-owned. Jack was in Alcoholics Anonymous for over 35 years inspiring many. He helped organize and lead a group and gave over 175 speeches at AA meetings. In addition to this, he was the harness racing commissioner for the Franklin County Fair. Jack was also an avid OSU fan attending many basketball and football games, including the bowl games. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeanne Ellen Lockard; sons, Steve (Nancy) and Clifford (Jackie) Lockard; daughters, Jill (Paul) Andrews, Sally (Tony) Ristucci and Jennie (Doug) Mason; sister, Claudia Jevene (Kermit) Darr; grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Andrews, Kyle and Seth Lockard, Emily (Ian) Pickard, Molly Lockard, Brandie (Keith) Koehler, Jennifer Ristucci, Brittany (Kyle) Zelazny, Brent (Emily) Garner, Austin and Zachary Lockard, Casey and Cathy Mason; great grandchildren, Riley, Colin, Jacob, Tyler, Sydney, Jack, Brody, Elina and Carter. Visitation will be Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church, 5100 Karl Rd., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road. Columbus. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at New Albany Garden and Care Center for the wonderful care he received during his stay and also the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Tish for the compassionate care Jack received.
