Jack C. Montoney Sr., age 94, of Grove City, OH passed away Nov. 7, 2022. He was born in Columbus, OH on April 20, 1928. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Marguerite T. Montoney; wife, Helen; sons, Jack Jr. and Bradly A.; daughter, Pamela K.; brother, Robert (Martha); wife, Lois Voss; girl friend, Rebecca Hutchison; stepdaughter, Debbie Brown. Survived by daughter-in-law, Cheryl Montoney; grandchildren, Samantha (Dan) Sommer, Brian Montoney, and Micheal Montoney; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Brady, Claire, and Jack Sommer, Abree, Sophia, Madelyn, Morgan, Taylor, and Harper Montoney; stepdaughter, Toni Sheets; step-grandchildren, William and Craig Conley, Steve and Scott Sheets.
Jack loved sports. He was a baseball, basketball, and football official. He worked 41 years as a football official, including High School, College, Semi Pro, Ohio Athletic Conference, MidAmerican Conference, Midwest Professional Conference. He was an observer for OAC and Ohio Glory. He was a dedicated Buckeye who worked practices for Woody Hayes, Earl Bruce, and John Cooper. He was very proud to have worked practices at 20 bowl games for the Buckeyes and was assigned Chain Crew for all Ohio State home games for 33 years. Past President of COFOA and OAFO. Jack served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion 532, Moose Lodge II, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Masonic Lodge 670, Hill Top Shrine, Amigo Club of Columbus, Central Ohio Home Plate Club, Agonis, and Central Ohio Senior Softball.

Visitation Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 from 5-8pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral Service Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at 11:30am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
