Jacquelyn Maria "Jackie" Mayle Sroufe was born in Columbus, Ohio, November 2, 1936 and passed peacefully June 15, 2021 at Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana with her sons by her side.
She is predeceased by her brother Michael, and her parents Delmas and Mercedes Mayle.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony Robert, Delmas Gordon, and Jeffrey Mayle, grandson Phillip Sroufe, Great Grandson Phillip Jr Sroufe, nephew Steven Mayle, Ex-husband Gordon Sroufe, cousins Wesley Fullen, Sissy Fullen, Steve Curtis, and a large extended family, The Fergusons, and the Ransoms.
She is also Survived by close lifelong friends Joyce Thomas Sroufe, Sandy Hull, and close friends Mimi Johnson Jacobs, Donna Augustine, Karen Sennec.
Jackie grew up in the Methodist Church and, was president of the Women's Society at Shepherd United Methodist Church. She became Catholic in 1980 at St, Phillip the Apostle, in Columbus, Ohio. After retirement she became active in St. Christopher in Columbus. In Bloomington Indiana, she was a member of St Charles Borromeo. She was a supporter of various Catholic charities and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Music was always a part of her life. She sang in High School, at St. Phillip The Apostle she was a member of the folk music group, and she sang in the choir at St Christopher.
In Bloomington, she was on the bereavement committee at St. Charles, and volunteered for Hospice at Bloomington Hospital.
Jackie was a Homemaker, worked in retail at Lazarus Department Store in downtown Columbus, and retired from The Ohio Bureau of Employment Services in 1997, where she was a proud union member. She worked briefly at Del's Bread, a vegan bakery in Clintonville.
She moved to Bloomington Indiana in 2003 where she lived the rest of her days with her son Jeffrey and Cats Virginia and Cleo.
Jackie was a self - taught cook who did not know how to prepare a bad meal, and an avid gardener.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer-SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway in Grove City. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Green Lawn Cemetery.
